Looking at job ads, the rates for banking seem to be significantly higher than regular jobs? Is this because you never see the light of day? Just so dull they can't get people to stick around?

Its due to putting up with commuting.
I do remember working with someone who doubled his money moving to a bank. He thought the work would be twice as challenging!
