i lived in the north for over 4years and found northerners to be far more friendlier and generally found more of a community spirit upo there.

down here, you mention the north to a Londoner, and they say oh you mean Milton Keynes.

Nearly got myself a kicking by calling someone from the Midlands a Northerner. It's clear they don't like 'em either.
