As we run a limited, how much effort is it to get someone here on a work permit?

Also, if you provide lodgings, can you effectively pay them a salary below min wage (or even nothing if you deem the free housing = min wage)?

Not that I am looking to exploit globalisation of course and do what the government are encouraging big co's to do.

Why dont you hire a Bulgarian yourself (with big tits) train her up and get her in with your client to work with you?

It's quite a mission to do it legally - you should take steps to prove that you are unable to find a suitable candidate in the UK.

Alternatively you get agencies that do it for you. Costs a lot more but they know how to present the facts to get the job done.

Why pay an agency when it is easy to do it yourself. We’ve all seen the ads: “Our client is willing to pay up to minimum wage for 1st class degree from a redbrick university within the last three years with 10 years experience in ….”. Anyone who responds is obviously a blackguard. Armed with this you say to the Home office that you cannot find anyone in the UK they say “Oh dear, thick-O Brits” and give you the chance of shipping in as many minimum wage foreign monkeys as you like.

A maximum of 3.75 per day can be deducted for accomodation from a person's 'minimum wage'.

You can, of course, charge more for the accomodation but this can only be deducted from the salary paid that is above the minimum wage.

Visa depends on the trade and country of origin. One way around it ( If you re building an extension o your house for example) is to employ the person in his home county and send him to the UK on secondment.

I worked at a large multinational firm of accountants who employed developers in there India branch and brought them to the UK for eight weeks, there were eight in a one bedroom flat and they were paid £50 a day.
