My brother is going to Afghanistan for a 9 month gig. But then he is a major in 1para, who turned down the SAS.

What's the line from "The Godfather" again? Something like "don't risk your life for strangers". Particularly not for Blair, Brown, Primarolo IMO.Originally posted by andrew_neil_ukMy brother is going to Afghanistan for a 9 month gig. My brother freely admits that the army is just another wing of the Tony B Liar spin machine. I hope he will get a proper job soon. Guarding one of those Russian Billionaires in Kensington sounds good.Originally posted by ZZZZ SnoozerWhat's the line from "The Godfather" again? Something like "don't risk your life for strangers". I hope it works out for him. It is annoying (to put it mildly) that people such as your brother are being exploited for political ends.Originally posted by andrew_neil_ukMy brother freely admits that the army is just another wing of the Tony B Liar spin machine. I appreciate the comment - cheers. He will go in April - training starts end Jan. He says he will leave the army after that - I have heard it all before.Originally posted by ZZZZ SnoozerI hope it works out for him. 2 years ago my brother told me he was at Sandhust at 3am in January up to his chest in a lake and thought "it could be worse - I could be in a desk job". I suppose as a thrill seeker he needs something in his job - maybe he could help present top gear or something?Comment
