Is this turning into look how far I've been type thread? I've been from Alaska to the Falklands, but for me no where beats Italy. If you haven't been to Rome then go, and later chill out in Tuscany. The sights, the food, the wine and the people when you get to know them are fantastic and not too expensive if you apply a little research beforehand. At one of the campsites in tuscany it was cheaper to eat in the resturant than buy at the local supermarket.

Italy is good for the cultural thing, totty that looks stunning ...just stunning even when dressed casually, and a very relaxed attitude, but it suffers from the "My Backyard" syndrome - same with Greece,Spain,Turkey all too close and familiar - you can even do weekend breaks to Rome ffs.
No, for annual holidays it has to be long haul to a backward nation.... & as I said before Rhyl is good

Now got a toddler so its a week in Gran Canaria leaving on Saturday, not quite the same !

I won't bore you with the list of v.expensive and frankly overated resorts/hotels I've been too as reading is a strain for you . The two weeks at a campsite in Tuscany was one of the best holidays I've had. Surrounded by gorgeous scenery, culture and interest, friendly people from allover western Europe.
