Is this turning into look how far I've been type thread? I've been from Alaska to the Falklands, but for me no where beats Italy. If you haven't been to Rome then go, and later chill out in Tuscany. The sights, the food, the wine and the people when you get to know them are fantastic and not too expensive if you apply a little research beforehand. At one of the campsites in tuscany it was cheaper to eat in the resturant than buy at the local supermarket.But I discovered nothing else but depraved, excessive superstition. Me and the Mrs last did a winter month off to Vietnam and Cambodia, very good, good grub, suprisingly good accomo and very cheap. Vietnam is also a good place to stock up on clothes, tailor made suits at 15 quid, shirts a couple of quid, etc etc We went with empty rucksacks and came back fully loaded. Too old for 18-30/chav stuff but too young for saga.
Another good one we did was Peru, Cusco and the Inca Trail are OK for a 2 weeker, if you are feeling adventurous tag on Bolivia but you'll need longer and its a bit rough and ready.
Now got a toddler so its a week in Gran Canaria leaving on Saturday, not quite the same !Comment
