His dug wasn't really a Nazi. It was a catholic.

Yes indeed.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostLots of things are subjective,
but discernment is still possible by the use of judgment and the application of principles such as reasonableness.
So in this case, where he clearly pre-ambled the video with "this is a joke on my girlfriend, to take something she thinks is cute and make it do something horrific"...
Is it reasonable to convict him for a hate-crime?
I say no, it was a bad joke in poor taste.
Q1: What do you discern from the facts of the case?
Q2: Have you actually watched the original clip of him and the pug?Originally posted by Old GregI admit I'm just a lazy, lying cretinous hypocrite and must be going deaf♕Keep calm & carry on♕Comment

Or is that graun fake news?A man who filmed a pet dog giving Nazi salutes before posting the footage online has been fined £800.
Mark Meechan, 30, recorded his partner’s pug responding to statements such as “gas the Jews” and “sieg heil” by raising its paw before posting the footage on YouTube in April 2016.

It was a dark/bad joke, made by someone who prefaced the video with "this is a joke"
The judge didn't agree

The context I posted changes the picture significantly. If someone is going to publish such videos on the Internet, then they deserve to be convicted in accordance with the law. If you had wanted to engage honsetly, you would have included the context, rather than just referencing the 'it's just a joke' pre-amble.Originally posted by Bean View PostDidn't miss it at all;

Self-evident twaddle.Originally posted by Bean View PostWell, since humour is subjective, all topics are available, or none are.
The offensiveness of any statement is subjective. According to your "logic" either everyone is permitted to say anything, or all communication is prohibited.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment
