    Salisbury cathedral

Mr Petrov said friends had recommended Salisbury to them because "there's the famous Salisbury cathedral, famous for its 123-metre spire".

Salisbury cathedral is really popular with Russian tourists. It's very common in Russia to make medium to long haul flights to London, nip in to look at the spire, and fly back later the same day.

        Go through long visa process
        Fly to UK
Stay in tulipty hotel in London
        Go to Salisbury twice
Go back after one hour because of weather conditions
        Fly home

The Russians are just trolling us with this story and laughing their a~rses off looking at the reactions in the media and on Twitter

Shame it'll probably have to be demolished now, in case they left any trace of novichok in it.

Mind you, looking on the bright side, at least that'll make space for a multi-storey car park, which will be handy for shoppers.

And there's the replacement bus service from Basingstoke, to make them feel at home...

I think they should convert Salisbury to the Novichok hub for Western Europe... they've already done a field test, so you know that stuff works.
It will be like Ollivander's wand shop, only with top grade nerve agents instead of wands. Real boost for the local economy!

You forget they wanted to visit Stonehenge but it was wet.
So fly thousands of miles but gave that one a miss.

This is all a very plausible and it is reassuring they explained everything.
