    Contractor - £600/day

Pimp - You have to be kidding? The client might go to £400..

    Contractor - £600/day.

      Good.

If the client is tight on money they can feck orf.

I'd rather lose 50% of the contracts and charge twice as much and have 6 months of leisure time.

      Next.

When your backs up against the wall you do what you have to do. But for initial rate conversation with said pimp there is really no point in telling them your rate but you would accept 15% less. Thats 15% more margin in his pocket straight away...

It's quite simple. Tell them what you want and mean it, i.e. if they can't deliver the rate you require then you're not interested.

I've yet to meet a lawyer or doctor or dentist or even plumber who's negotiable on rate.

            If the jobs £2K it's £2K

(unless there is cash involved and the only loser is the taxman).

I follow the old workman's adage: cash is tax free.
