Staying Away - Airbnb?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and hopefully a new contractor.

My first contract is likely to be staying away from home for 2-3 nights a week. I was considering an AirBnb but I wasn't sure whether that would make it harder to claim it back as a business expense? I just want somewhere comfortable, not too expensive but with a kitchen (or at least a fridge/microwave/toaster) and a sofa with wifi.

You don't really need them unless you're not on the flat rate scheme and are claiming VAT on all your expenses.

Pretty sure Air BnB will give you something, even if it's just an email, that confirms the amount paid. If you need a full VAT receipt because, as noted above, you're not on the flat rate scheme then it's worth asking before you book if such a thing is available. As it's often people's homes, I'm not sure many home owners are VAT registered so it's unlikely you'll get one. Having never booked an Air BnB I have absolutely no idea

As long as you get a receipt to put through expenses you can use AirBnB.

I stayed in an AirBnB last week.

It was actually very good.

A rather odd check in procedure though - there were no written instructions just links to 2 youtube videos; one showing the route to a Chinese laundry where the key was to be collected and the other showing how to get to the apartment and what to do once you were there.
