Just outside Preston there's cheap fuel.

M6 is a long road - might need to be more specific about where you are intending to be travelling and where you might need to stop.

I can vouch for the ASDA Fullwood (PR2 9NP) diesel being 5p cheaper than darn Sarf

In the 50s and 60s, Alabama had the highest percentage of PhDs per capita in the US. There are still some areas where there are high percentages - for example, 8% of the population of Auburn have PhDs, 16% have a Masters and 32% have a Bachelors degree.

That's higher than Berkely, Mountain View, Boulder, Cupertino etc etc.

No idea how that compares to Bridgewater, but Alabama has some incredibly bright people there, some beautiful countryside, and some of the friendliest people I've met.

I was thinking more of the Alabama we see on telly - good ol' boys, incest, racism, everyone permanently drunk on the local brew. Basically very much like Bridgewater.

Sainsbury's, Bamber Bridge is about 111p for unleaded at the moment.

Ended up not having enough to get me that far, so filled up in Banbury at the Tesco - 113 for diesel. Stopped at that Sainsbury's to grab a sandwich. Will maybe use it again in the future.
