For contracts a long way from home (eg, more than 5 miles away), I tend to use the local B&B's. You can get some real bargains.

I once stayed with an old biddy who sheltered cats (40 in total) from the Cat Protection League. My room was 6' x 4' and featured a really cosy bed full of cats.

She even threw in breakfast for an extra £3, making the total cost £11 for the night.

Not bad, considering I ended up with fleas and food poisoning for no extra charge.

Edit : And a pathological dislike of cats.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I think hunting out a decent B&B for longer term stuff and Travel Inn for short term as you know what you are getting. Week in week out in a Travel Inn can be very demoralising. I'm currently doing a fairly horrible daily commute to avoid Travel Inn living.

That's why you he should rent a room

            1. You can leave stuff there
            2. You can make hot food
            3. It's cheaper
            4. You have someone to talk to

Residence Inn by Marriott are pretty good. Mine came with a fully fitted kitchen, ironing stuff, 2 large screen TVs with 82 channels, they go out and do your shopping for you, there's a swimming pool, whirlpool, pool table, breakfast, evening food but they're non-smoking.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
