In fact, the pound is very slightly up against the euro today - trading at €1.155 four hours after Article 50 was triggered, compared to €1.154 just before.
Yet diseasedmind said it has "plummeted".

Then again, I suspect you may never get to find this out.

I think that's why a lot of code that is supposed to handle Unicode written by British-born, British-bread programmers often breaks down as soon as someone types in an accented letter. Because why know other languages when you can ignore them, right?

Well if they were paid a bit more dough such mistakes might be avoided.

Indeed. A good point well made.
        No point in over-complicating matters.

We thank you for your enlightened contribution. We also note you call us dumb. Now please don't get offended if we tell you to piss off, it's not personal, merely business. Oh, sod it, please piss off. Is that polite enough?

If it's not a requirement then you don't code it in.

I've seen enough code where it was a requirement, but nobody bothered to test it with non-ASCII characters. And then they gave the code to the French :-)

                Feckwits.

You just find someone in the office who speaks a language with lovely symbols. Get them to email you a few phrases and then try it out.

Obviously if you are working overseas in India you may have a few problems....

Not really, I regularly get emails from programmers or ops in India demanding I explain something to them. "Explain" as in do their job for them. They do try to get results :-)

                    I've had that as well.

I've also seen it on mailing lists.

even if it is a requirement it won't be developed especially if it isn't a British coder.
