Assuming the worst (say, a 9% fall in GDP) what would the best place to buy property to let in the UK be?

I was thinking Bishops Stortford - pleasant market town with good schools, close to the City, close to Cambridge, close to Stansted (hence 3 possible centres of differing types of employment).

Any other suggestions?

Go to Kensington in London and buy a lease from the council for 600 - 700 K for 999 years, you will double your money in no time

If you want a good yield target Stoke. I'm serious. Check it yourself on rightmove. 50k buys you a 5 year old flat that rents for 400 sterling per month.
