I would happily travel across the world for an invitation from Dalai Lama.

Only 300 million? Waiddaminnit. The EU, ex the UK, is 50% larger. Why did the UK vote to leave again?

        It'll all end in tears.
No it won't. We just have to learn the American Way. Attach a tiny warning label to everything. One that says "Warning - this product is useless for anything and may cause harm, injury and eternal suffering to any person within a 5 mile radius from it at any point in time, regardless of how time is measured." 99.9% won't read it, manufacturers of tiny warning labels will be delighted and manufacturers will all be good. It will be great. Beautiful.

I'm cautiously optimistic about her visit. He needs friends, and he will know that. We can be his biggest, bestest friend, far more so than any of those pesky Europeans.

That could put us in a very strong position.

Of course, on the other hand, he really could be the nihilist that he's painted as, and then we're all doomed.
Unlike, say Europe, we're actually liked in the States. Given Trumps low approval ratings it suits him to be seen cosying up to plucky little Britain.

May needs American leverage against the EU if and when the Brexit divorce proceedings turn nasty.

          Its a win/win deal.

Just thank ***k we haven't got Brit hater Obama in office now

It is huge compared to Lichtenstein. It's all a matter of using the appropriate references.

The UK goes to the back of the queue again.

Trump fails to commit to trade negotiations

On Friday he spoke in generalities about the importance of ties between America and its former colonial master. But he didn't say he would start negotiations for a new trade agreement with the U.K. He didn't announce a deal. That showed restraint and savvy. Unlike his pledges to make Mexico pay for a border wall or to end radical Islamic terrorism, when it comes to the "special relationship," Trump so far is not making promises he will have a hard time keeping.
As Peter Hitchens said before the visit, the UK is totally unimportant to the US and this is nothing more than a glorified selfie for Theresa May

It's an advanced economy that actually buys stuff.

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
