Scottish trade with UK four times that of trade with eu

Scottish trade with the EU hasn't grown for 10 years. It has grown massively with the rest of the UK.

Official figures. Report from that English rag, The Scotsman.

Sturgeon lovers. Think before you tell us how important the EU is to you.

Ah the Scotsman. The last bastille of Scottish interests. It's like the Torygraph and Daily fail combined only worse.

The bulk of that trade is from RBS Then Energy (electricity like), excluding oil and gas, before coming onto food stuffs and other services. That financial trade will disappear upon Wrexit.

I've yet to see an argument why trade with England matters if Scotland is independent or not, in or out of the EU. England will still lap it up at an increased cost cause they're an net importer. Period.

London is about to loose its financial services to the EU. It now makes more sense then ever for Scotland to remain a part of it [EU].

      ftfy

So you are envisaging a real hike in the cost of exported deep-fried snickers then, to fill the huge hole in the SNP Budget that is left when the Barnett Formula is dropped?

Jeez Louise, no wonder you couldn't get a job back here! The ape creatures of the Indus have a better grasp of economics.

If you click here and scroll down a bit there is a clip from the Daily Politics show in which Stewart Hosie from the SNP gets made a monkey of over the figures.

You may not believe anything you read (as it suits you) but you will have difficulty denying the facts when presented on a TV programme.

The fact is, Scottish trade with the UK is massive. With the EU it is small.

And you comment about most of it being RBS is also wrong. RBS trade hasn't moved for years. Scottish trade in the UK in general has increased massively. So not RBS.

You keep on believing the crap that 'brave Nicola' keeps telling you though.

Solid arguement that one. Trouble is you've actually got to trade with them to take advanage. Just because you've got access to a market of any size, doesn't mean they are all going to start eating porridge oats and drinking whisky. How about just sticking with your old mates - you know - the ones you've been with for hundreds of years?

All those banking jobs on the M8 corridor will disappear down to the M62 corridor, as will the likes of Sky if we're different sovereign states.

Oh and London lose its financial services? Ha. Haha. Hahahahaha. You're more sensationalist than the Fail, Express and Graun put together. It'll lose a small fraction of the business for the passporting part and that's only if no deal is done.

Scotland will end up a bigger basket case than most, especially with oil prices so low that it's not worth getting out of the North Sea.

But you want independence come hell or high water. Any chance of an objective point of view?

Mates? The same ones that have inflicted Tory government after Tory government upon us? If we're a union of equals why is poverty so rife in Scotland (as reported today)? The Scottish parliament is improving things surely but slowly, it's not something you can turn around in an instant.
