It's cheeky enough to charge your client for time while you're entertaining them, and super-cheeky if they're actually paying! Unless, of course, you are a prostitute.
If they take you on a full-day bender while you're supposed to be working for them, you can try arguing that this constitutes a "derogation from grant" with respect to your contract, and that they're therefore in breach of it, but that this is "remediable" by paying you your normal charge rate for the duration. For this to work, your client has to actually know piss-all about contract law.
