Which begs the question, why can't parents coach their children at the local academy?Originally posted by Old Greg View PostWill entry into said grammar schools be based on children's ability or parents' ability to pay for private coaching?
Would prefer to see a project based learning approach myself like they do in Finland."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

Part of the problem is that not all parents are prepared to help their children at home. With a sister as a teacher, I've heard all sorts of stories, some heartbreaking, about kids not getting any involvement from parents and parents at parents evening saying that it's the teacher's job to teach the kid, not theirs. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment

biggest head ache as an adult is kids and schooling
our sprogs are private at the moment with a view to get them into a local grammar school
but even these parents are tutoring their kids for the 11+ from the ages of 5-6
it's a crazy rat race, whether its worth it or not in the long run is probably a 50 50 shotComment

Hoping to send ours to project based learning school. I don't understand how learning is to be achieved through testing. Need to focus on their strengths first not results."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment
