    Not quite right. The UK manufactures very little with 100% UK contents. Widgets rely on buying a lot of imported content and then finally “manufacturing” in the UK and then exporting it. The cost of raw materials and components will be harmful in some sectors.

    BTW: I am old enough to remember importing and exporting when the UK was in EFTA. There was a mass of paperwork and regulations. There were even intervention tariffs to pay to HMRC as goods left the UK because the destination country insisted on a minimum price level for certain goods.
