    Preamble

The Heads of State or Government of the Member States of the European Communities, meeting within the European Council, resolved to continue the work begun on the basis of the Treaties of Paris and Rome and to create a united Europe, which is more than ever necessary in order to meet the dangers of the world situation, capable of assuming the responsibilities incumbent on it by virtue of its political role, its economic potential and its manifold links with other peoples......
    etc etc

And this was in 1983 the EU's gone much further since then.

This isn't some conspiracy theory, its the blinkin history of the EU This is the European ideal, the European project. European politicians are generally very proud of it. Its just not for us.

Please tell me this is a parody thread and you did know all this before voting Remain ?

This does not have nothing to do with the thread. This doc refers to a United Europe, not became Europe in one country.

This was also signed by the UK but David Cameron managed to get he UK exempted from it in the new settlement for the UK in the EU.

The Prime Minister has made removing “ever closer union” from the EU’s aims - or from the UK’s aims in the EU – a main theme of his proposed reform. He wrote in the Telegraph, 15 March 2014:

And dealing properly with the concept of “ever closer union”, enshrined in the treaty, to which every EU country now has to sign up. It may appeal to some countries. But it is not right for Britain, and we must ensure we are no longer subject to it.

He informed the Commons on 29 June 2015 of the June European Council and the UK’s reform proposals, saying

We will put the Common Market back at the heart of our membership, get off the treadmill to ever-closer union, address the issue of migration to Britain from the rest of the EU and protect Britain’s place in the single market for the long term.

It is not clear whether this will involve Treaty change in the longer term.
So it wouldn't have affected the UK then...

As it is, the Express is talking about a new document whereas the one you have linked to is from 2013. Where is this new document?
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

            Frankly, unless you're a swivel-eyed, tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, then - what's wrong with that?`

United Europe = all the countries of (attempting to, within the confines of national interest) Europe moving on together.

Marginal difference I know, but the Soviet Union was totalitarian in outlook, rather than democratic and backed by the Soviets sending in tanks.

Sure, the EU could turn out like that, but just possibly they were trying something new. Perhaps you were in nappies during the time of the Iron Curtain, but many of us remember what it was like. It seems very unlikely that people of my generation (or older) would be seeking to establish an emulation of the Soviet Union. And even a crass idiot like you might consider for a moment that perhaps Putin wouldn't be so antagonistic if the shady EU officials were trying to set up another EU.
