I've seen this argument a few times. It's a poor one because it roughly translates as " I want the non democratically elected EU Comission to protect me from the activities of my fully democratically elected UK Government ".

I've seen this retort too. YOU do elect the individuals in the EU via proxy when you vote in a government here at home.

Why would elected members from, say Slovakia, have any interest in what's good for Wales (as a random example)? You're the man who doesn't want to be part of 'Westminster' because it’s too remote.

Does it affect Dundalk or Drogheda, or where ever you are? In fact, if I'm not mistaken RoI is loosing people, or certainly was until very recently.

Not quite the question I asked though. Given you pop over to Newry, you must be quite close to the border. So would you accept the pressures on services for someone from, for example Luton, will be acutely different to anything you've experienced? Calling people who have and continue to experience these things racist is dead easy when you know nothing like it and never will.
