So if we brexit we'll stop doing what the US tells us to do at every whim?

That's a bit like saying the police should watch every house to prevent burglaries. They don't. That's not the way policing works. To really patrol the borders would cost far more than the British people would put up with, not to mention the endless delays at the ports turning Kent into a lorry park.

Not that it's an argument either way, but Brexit can only increase the number of illegals from the continent.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Interesting the 4th richest country in world, despite being surrounded by water, can't protect its borders yet landlocked countries like Switzerland can.

          Define 'protecting borders'.

Are you telling us that there is border control for entry into Switzerland from, say, Germany ?

Don't want to commit to big boats until the results of the referendum. Very sensible.

This is what happened to our maritime patrol aircraft.

Switzerland let me in. Twice. And that was when there were border patrols on the motorway, though in reality all they cared about was making you pay for their road tax permit.

Is it still true that all the bridges are mined in case of a surprise attack?

No, stupid, because it's part of the free movement agreement. Take the train across the border however and you'll see police patrolling the trains asking for passports. That's not unusual.

Even driving into Germany from the Netherlands my taxi driver was stopped. Was not even a main road.

We can detect every plane that approaches our airspace and that doesn't mean there are thousands of people sitting in fields keeping an eye on the sky.

Not sure why it would increase. Are you suggesting a large number of what are now legal EU immigrants would become illegal under a points based system?

Right. So what exactly were you moaning about?
