It better be specified in precise detail in the original requirements, or else there will be expensive change requests, and change requests to those. If what we want can be misunderstood, it will.

I haven't read that guff, and unless I become bedridden for several months, I will not be doing so. The mere fact that we as a sovereign nation should even have to vote on such a basic issue is enough for me to take issue. To hell with the whole sodding lot. Translate that into 28 languages.

No need to lots of the politicians and civil servants in EU countries speak English.

Even the French who pretend they don't do, it is more likely the translation is needed for the Southern European countries unless their politician/civil servant was educated at a British university like in Greece.

Even if they know English full well, they may, by law or regulation, be forbidden to use anything else than the official languages of the country in their work. That is certainly the case when dealing with public sector agencies in Belgium.
