Nor do I.Originally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostMaybe I don't have 100k from BOMAD to sink as a deposit.
Also, I'm a lot older, don't own my own house and don't moan about it.
You should try it

Actually a good time to sell. Unless you're living on the flood planes!Originally posted by NibblyPig View PostDon't think I'd sell a house in winter, much more demand in summer and buggers won't be able to tell how terribly insulated it is
More viewers is not immer a good thing. Fewer are actually more serious about taking it forward less likely to waste your time."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

No, I meant stop moaning about it.Originally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostYou mean gobble up with gusto the scraps dropped from the boomer table. FTS.
Also, as I have said before, your view / outlook is very narrow.
You could get a house abroad, it does not have to be in the UK.
I am strongly thinking of doing so myself. The Chunt of Chunts.Comment

Nothing wrong with being in the buy to let game, just don't complain if taxation changes mean that you're not receiving as much free money as before.Originally posted by alreadypacked View PostFor me it's all about pension's. It's ok living now, but when you get older, who is going to pay you then?Comment

In London, from 1989 on, the market did not go down. Unlike the rest of the country.Originally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostIt seems incredible that borrowing can continue to expand at a faster rate than growth. A crunch will come, maybe in the next 12 months, and this may bring prices down. I don't see rates going up (much) for the next 5 years, so if you can afford the payments on a nice place, you can buy some what independent of the state of the market. It's a blacksmiths cottage isn't it? sounds lovely.
But now. Prices can only go up up up.Comment

I just get on with my life, if that involves moving abroad, so be it.
I have looked at a 3 bed, 3 floor, canal side, centrally located, town house, in Amsterdam, for example.
It has 2 terraces, one going the full length of the property, the other behind.
Works out at under £550K.The Chunt of Chunts.Comment
