    Exactly. The number of properties being rented out with borrowed money should be approximately zero. Property in the rental market should not be mortgaged, it should be bought with capital.

    Mortgages are for homeowners, not highly leveraged property Spekulants.

    Property prices would be about 10% of what they are now if this were implemented.

        Yes I know, but it will break the banks in the end, when a cesspit in Luton costs over a £1m and you need to earn £200K to afford one.

        So, the govt can save itself another banking bailout for banning BTL mortgages, house prices become affordable, we avoid a sub prime situation down the line.

          There are a lot of very cheap houses in Bham, but in a handful of very desirable areas prices are going up like crazy, I am pretty sure the same is in Luton.

          Now in London there is total detachment from reality, that market is going to crash or maybe not, I don't really care since I've bought good enough for me.
