Its the idiot behind the wheel that is the cause of the issue not the car.
The cars don't lend themselves too well to frontal collisions (911s or Carerra GTs) - in 911s, Boxters and Caymans the fuel tank is in the front luggage compartment forward of the bulkhead. A receipe for disaster if it ruptures.
The Carrera GT could be different the fuel filler looks like it's on the rear quarterpanel.
Ryan Dunn got switched off in a GT3 ... same story, hit a lamppost I think and got frazzled in the aftermath.
