Oh I don't know, lets take the 911 Carrera GTS which is a reasonably mid-high end model:

    Porsche BMW

    306kmh 311kmh (only 250 when restricted)
    0-60 4.4s 0-60 3.9s

Its the idiot behind the wheel that is the cause of the issue not the car.

The cars don't lend themselves too well to frontal collisions (911s or Carerra GTs) - in 911s, Boxters and Caymans the fuel tank is in the front luggage compartment forward of the bulkhead. A receipe for disaster if it ruptures.

The Carrera GT could be different the fuel filler looks like it's on the rear quarterpanel.

Ryan Dunn got switched off in a GT3 ... same story, hit a lamppost I think and got frazzled in the aftermath.

Speed and inexperience is the problem.

I was working at the Porsche R&D centre in Weissach when these came out. My office was about 150m away from the test track and all day long you could hear these things being thrashed around the test track although when just ticking over they sounded like a big old diesel (my car does too when started from cold.) On my way to work I drive near the Porsche factory and not too far from the R&D place so quite often see some nice top of the range Porsche's and also the AMG and Mercedes factories so you get to see quite a few of their prototypes on the roads around here....

Ah, didn't realise it was a GT and not a standard 911 of whatever spec (the Turbo S looks fantastic).
