We should do whatever is right regardless of what others say about it. Helping others hardly brings about criticism.

It's not that straightforward though, is it. Ofcourse, the pictures of small children makes many people just jump up and say we should be helping them. But do people really consider what will happen in 5, 10, 15 years time ?

Say we take in how many ever refugees, what next ? We've got to settle them in. So, do they have a pick on where they want to settle (London most likely). Would they start a riot/claim government is insensitive if they get settled away from London

Once given housing, the next thing is schools. Are there enough school places for the kids ? If not, build more schools ? What about employment ? Find jobs - most likely low skilled jobs. Healthcare ? And then the big questions is of integration. Will they integrate or expect government to adapt to their needs ? Translation services, accepting cultural differences.

And then in 10 years time, if the UK is in a war with Syria or somewhere in the middle east - how many of the people that were settled/made this their home wouldn't think twice about attacking the same country ?

There needs to be rational thinking about accepting immigrants. Also, alternative options (settling them outside EU) should be considered with UN's help.

As long as we don't get a bunch of sanctimonious pop stars doing a godawful charity single and concert...pictures of starving children sell records, they don't help them!
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Not my job pal. I'm busy working to pay taxes to prop them up.

So, why are they trekking all the way here to a non-Muslim country when Turkey is on their doorstep?

Let's start with something a bit simpler. What name are they going to be issued official documents such as NI number in? Any name they give?

Without a full investigation into each applicant we are opening ourselves up to fraud and possibly terrorism. This all takes time and resources.

You were the clown who suggested that ancient Babylonian literature proved that middle eastern cultures aren't barbarous.

Then I reference barbarism in ancient Babylonian (and regional) literature, set in ancient Babylon, and you respond thus.

So are you telling me that your original statement came from a position of ignorance?

I can't see how my reply can be pointless unless your own was more do.

How about we nuke Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. No more nukes, no more migrants. Win-win.

I'd suggest that we start with Surrey
