While as a driver it's your responsibility to notice all road signs however if you have the (dis)advantage of having a child of a particular age in your car they will "kindly" read the sign out to you.

Yup, you could never be expected to read this, or the other ones placed at varying distances before the crossing, must be someone else's fault:
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

I had no idea this was the case; not that I ever go that way.
They point out you need to pay.

There is then this great new portal I have found called the internet. You get a box of some sort with a keyboard. It has magic fairies inside. It then talks to other boxes with magic fairies inside. And it tells you everything you need to know about the Dartford crossing or most other subjects.

For more information ask you children or grandchildren.

The best bit is you no longer need to go to a newsagent to furtively buy top shelf magazines. You can download anything and everything you ever wanted. Best not to ask your kids about this as you will be shocked at how much they know.

I always did regret tell my children that the sign for humps in the road meant large breasted woman ahead.

I reckon SM saw the signs. But being from Yorkshire decided to be tight and tried to get out of paying...

My wife has a portable one of those - it's got all that capability, but she uses it to throw birds at pigs or to line up sweets.

              They'll never catch on.

MF will buy one of those so he can eat them faster.

But I agree. Punchcards (holes punched out using a quill pen) are the way to go. Life was so much better back then.

While we're on the topic of the crossing, has anyone else seen an EOD bot go trundling past them at the crossing, or was it just me seeing something you're usually more likely to see in COD or Battlefield
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

I actually missed this sign and was expecting to pay at a toll. The passenger spotted the sign, then we had a long discussion how impractical it would be for this to be true - having to go online register then make a payment, nuts. Anyway it was true so ended up trying to pay for the fare on my mobile phone using the slowest internet connection possible in France. On top of that the website could not find my reg so had to manually enter the car make/model etc.

On the way back forgot to pay online before the deadline but paid anyway and I didn't get a fine.

I can imagine they will make a fortune from fines.
