30% flat rate would lose Govt lots of money even on "base rate" taxpayers, so it will never happen.
    NI on £10k is £232.80

    My bad

Then make it 40% then, or what ever the balance point is.

All pay same tax, no boomer or Starbucks exclusions. That works for me.

Nobody will make it flat rate because it's "unfair" - electorate feels much better knowing that some rich people will pay higher rate of tax than they do. The trick is to make sure that said electorate does not realize how much tax they pay themselves

Seems fair if under 21s get a lower minimum wage.
Be careful what you wish for. You will be over 50 one day.

I would agree with removal of tax relief from BTL so that a house is no longer less expensive for a BTL landlord than for an owner-occupier.

That is exactly right. Even when they are told about the rates of Employer's NICs, many people will just say "but the employer pays that": as if the employer pays it from a different pot of money from the one that he pays the employee from.

It might work for you. But it doesn't work for Labour. They are "Progressive" and like to redistribute wealth. It is in their core.

They want to redistribute the wealth of people-who-work wealth to people-who-don't-work. This, they will tell you is "Fair".
