Oddly enough with all the house shortage there are no 100'000s of homeless people with nowhere to live, so obviously there is enough housing for all. If the BTL landlords start selling because the government choice to act on behalf of the majority of the population that is not a BTL Landlord the prices will fall and the normal people will be able to afford a home of their own. Of course this will ruin the inflated figures of the supposed economic recovery so it will never happen.

Many countries in Europe have a large portion of the population living in rented accommodations, the difference is they are not spending 30%+ of the household income for rent.

London and SE England from experience, entire UK if you go by raw numbers. If you can't see the problem yourself, you are probably a BTL Landlord blinded by greed, so no point in trying to convince you

40% not 28% so they pay a third more, the houses however are more expensive to buy in UK do the sums.

The very group who will vote for them regardless, because the policies of the alternatives will be much worse for them.

You think they can't see the full impact? I think they can. And they don't give a **** about BTL landlords.

This group has been getting govt subsidies for years and it's time it stopped.

Too true, Labour will repossess BTLs for peanuts and fill them with Asylum seekers.

For those renters it will be amusing when you can only rent off some foreign multinational paying tax with a dutch sandwich. See how much they care about their tenants. Rents of course will be more than mortgages because they can.

Nope I'm not a landlord, but I live in Wales so some of what you're saying is not relevant to where I am.

Even there it depends where in Wales you living, there are huge regional differences across Wales

Near me some places you can get a home for 60k, others nothing below 1 million all within close proximity

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Sure is but on a whole property here is still very affordable compared with most other areas, salaries aren't too bad either I just don't buy the raw data argument as it's bound to be skewed by London, areas of the South East and Dorset etc.

Which is precisely why I upped sticks and moved to Wales, can have a high level of disposable income and a big house with a small mortgage rather than a hovel near London

And I can drink mead whilst I sit on my porch and look across to Snowdonia
