And if he replied, "No, I need a shag" ?

Embarrassed - understood. Not happy - that is not expected.

Remember NF's Monday links about survivors who jumped from golden gate bridge?

Some guy jumped then thought "All my life problems are solvable. Apart from having just jumped from golden gate bridge".

I'm sure she could have passed on your details.

Will you declare yourself as witness/possibly the last person he saw?

I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

So he can tell the police about how he walked away and then immediately posted about it on social media?

Last distressed person I mumbled "You OK?" at didn't give the anticipated "yes" response. So I ended up being agony aunt to a weeping woman for over an hour on the train home. Edit: She didn't ask for a shag though.
