I used to think of Minestrone as being well educated, but reading his posts I've come to the conclusion that he's Scottish. So I was wrong.

IN fact this is the issue with PR type elections, the guy is a total cockwomble but he gets voted in because someone chose him.

I've been to macro and got 5 years of beans and spam for the family. The lorry with the 5 years of Stella arrives in the morning.

              Screw everyone, I'm election proof.

The whole thing is a bit silly. The MP is meant to work for the region he represents, yet if your MP is the PM, or other senior minister, clearly they have more important things to do and you're short changed. Maybe we should elect MPs separately from the government, and then have a time set aside in the commons where the PM and other ministers are invited in to answer to the people's representatives about how they're running the country.

The US President isn't a member of either house, and neither does he have any extra responsibility to one region or state. They seem to get on all right.
Our system differs from the US by a lot.

The president has power but not as much as a PM with a decent majority/good coalition.

A PM can get random laws through both Houses of Parliament even if the law is tulip and can't be enforced properly such as the Dangerous Dogs act. On the other hand if a US president tried the same thing he wouldn't get such a law through. He has to go through both Houses of Congress and then can be challenged at the Supreme court. If the law breaks the US constitution it isn't passed. If the UK PM proposes a tulip law it's passed, challenged then reinterpreted if it breaks/contradicts other laws.

Anyway a good UK minister has someone, normally a spouse, who is the manager for him/her. So while they do their ministerial duties their manager manages the constituency with their support staff.

The minister if any good does manage to do some surgeries every month but not as much as if they were a get good back bencher.

Finally lots of MPs now are very good at making sure they appear at constituency events for 10 minutes, meeting the compliant organisers and getting photos on social media if not in the mainstream press. This gives them the appearance that they are very involved in their constituency when in fact their manager has just organised for them to show their face. So now when they are standing for election again they can claim all the "good" things they have done.

Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
