We will not be invaded by Russia or Norway or anyone else for that matter. If we were independent we would have our own forces, just as Norway does, but we wouldn't be invading anyone. we would have enough of an army and navy to protect ourselves without seeing the need to be aggresive to build an empire.

An independent Scotland would be one of the richest small nations on earth. If we didn't provide a lot to the UK GDP then Westminster would have cut us adrift long ago. The fact is we are an oil producing nation and would have no problem sustaining ourselves.
Just remind me again how long the oil is going to last.

The islands are at this moment in time British and want to remain British. If you want to follow that line of argument, then we should consider returning Argentina to the indigenous natives or The Shetlands to Norway.

Another specious argument. Rights aren't negotiable. As a citizen you have the right and the justifiable expectation to be defended by your fellow citizens or its nominated representatives in the event of aggression from an extremal force.
A specious argument from you too. Norway hasn't shown any interest in taking over the Shetlands.

I think the last time Cameron was up here warning us not to 'break up the UK' it was about a year.

Other estimates are anything from that to a couple of hundred years.

Which answer suits your argument best ?

I think 30-40 years was the accepted estimate so I'll go for that one.

Well we are talking about present day. Argentina is still interested in taking over the Falklands, Norway isn't showing any interest in taking ovet the Shetlands.

If you go back 2/3 of a century (and at other times) you'll probably find something about Germany trying to invade the Uk. You worried about that happening again then ?

From The Torygraph from 2008 before they knew about the indyref

The north sea will continue to provide oil for another 100 years, twice as long as previous estimates, according to industry analysts.

We should nuke the Argies first just to be safe.

So do you think we should just hand it back because they ask nicely?
