Sorry, why did you translate that into French? Did you think that my point was that French language could not reproduce this sentence and it was the fault of this particular restaurant cashier?

Well, I guess that is true.

Well you said it was difficult! But no not trying to argue just sometimes the French are just that 'French' and they do have their own take on customer service that is all...

In addition any of the people at EuroDisney will speak some English but as you said it was quite a diffiuclt comment to translate from English to French - thus the cashier might have had trouble understanding what you mean... as she/he was just expecting you to pay/ maybe ask how much...

      that is all

It was ... in the situation described. Obviously I could do it right now very easily. I could have done it very easily at the time if I spoke good French. The fact that something is easy in a different situation does not mean it is not difficult in a different one.

At no point have I made that argument. I just said that the customer service in ED is poor in my experience.

No, they won't. I have experienced it first hand - see ... well the exact example we are currently discussing.

We did not get as far as seeing whether she could understand the sentence (although you make a fair point that they might have struggled to understand it in their second language had we got that far).

Mrs MUN asked her in French if she spoke any English (we knew she did as we had spoken to her in English previously, we were just being polite) and she replied (in French) "Yes, do you speak French" and when Mrs MUN tried to explain in French that she did not know the French for what she wanted to ask the cashier simply shrugged and stared at her. We then had to try to muddle the sentence together for a few minutes whilst she stared at us and a large queue formed behind. Luckily Mrs MUN just gave up, I would have just stood there trying different words until I got my meaning across or the place shut.

Another cashier in a merchandise shop just shrugged and pointed at a different queue (after I had spent a good ten minutes getting to the front of this queue) when I asked in French whether he spoke any English. After that he simply looked away until I left.

Europa-Park - way better than Disneyland Paris.
