I expect they'll fall just short of a majority. Forming a coalition will be tough. In any case, 70% of the population favour staying in the Euro, so Tsipras doesn't have the mandate for leading them out (and the recent rhetoric from Syriza reflects that).

The most annoying part of this - is the implication that Greek voters can unilaterally vote for a (further) debt haircut - and that anyone who disagrees - is by definition anti-democratic because that "is what the greeks have voted for"

However, most of the debt is effectively owned by voters in other Eurozone counties, who have implicitly expressed their democratic desire to their leaders that they don't want to agree write off the money they have handed Greece through their own taxes.

Tsipras may well have a mandate to try to negotiate, but that's where the mandate ends.

I'm a bit surprised that there's only about 10m voters in Greece, probably 4-5 times that in the UK.
