Who put YES ? WTF ?
Delusion doesn't begin to describe it. We laugh now about people in t'olden times worshipping the Sun, nature etc but at least this was tangible, it makes far more sense than any franky ridiculous faith in some unseen deity.
Understandably able to gain some traction many moons ago when the ignorance displayed by the vasy majority of humans was massive but frankly laughable these days.

Science is no closer to explaining everything than it was 100 years ago. In fact it's further away because pre-quantum mechanics, scientists thought they might be close to wrapping everything up (hilarious as that sounds now).
To say science negates religion shows a rather embarrassing ignorance of both, to be honest. There are well-respected scientists in all fields who have strong personal faith, just as there are atheists who know nothing about science.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

If they are opposites of each other in that sense, than it's logically impossible for one to disprove the other.
Where scientists also have faith, it's as simple as compromising on one's principles - that's all. Just because someone could be a better scientist doesn't mean that they aren't already a good one. And just because they are already good doesn't mean that they couldn't be better.
Religion in such people is an artefact of that compromise - it says nothing about whether they are a good or bad scientist, other than the fact that they are willing to compromise on principle to some extent. All you can say for certain from that is that they *might* do bad science because of that willingness to compromise.Comment

If they learned stuff that exposed more questions, then they are - by definition - closer to understanding 'everything'.Comment

I don't get religion at all... I mean I can understand parents telling the odd porky pie to their kids about santa claus etc to help the kiddies toe the line, but to continue to believe in santa or any other fictional character through to adulthood seems unreal... the fact that people kill other people over this is even more bonkers.Comment
