Just deliberately mass bombed civilian targets using incendiary ordinance, the children were only collateral damage...

Well okay, we deliberately targeted civilians knowing full well a proportion of them would be children.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

I think people get upset because torture is abhorrent and gains very little. Complaining that enemy is sub-human and then using that excuse to act like wild animals ourselves is just pathetic.

Ok, makes sense (from their POV anyway). Thanks.

There is still a humungous difference between targeting war-effort factories, knowing that some bombs would go astray and probably kill children - and the outright targeting of children.

Even with collateral damage caused by drone strikes etc., it's not like the Yanks say "right, let's try to kill as many children as we possibly can today - let's try and slaughter every last little kiddie we can" - that's precisely what the Taleban said when they woke up this morning.

              This

I know a very small number of guys who have come back from Afghanistan and they say that the rules of engagement are so strict that often they put the guys in danger.

Whereas the other side did not give a damn and would deliberately engage in public areas to reduce the effectiveness of our troops.
