Exactly - you could protect that part of the head, but at the expense of movement and visibility. The helmet he was wearing was the 2013 design - I doubt that there is anything significantly different in the 2014 design which would have prevented the accident.

He was injured doing what he loved doing, and he died without any pain. Ultimately, there's not much more you could wish for.

            It's happened twice.

However considering the number of people who play cricket they are more likely to be run over by a bus.

How about being alive and playing again? A slightly modified helmet that covers exposed arteries leading to the brain similar to baseball helmet.

You stated your case, others already countered, then you went all sarcastic.

                While playing.

Well only top class cricketers in the modern game (last 10 years) can bowl at these speeds, so although it's a miracle it hasn't happened before, it's down to the number of event's being relatively low. Statistically, it will happen again many times if the helmet isn't modified and as fast bowlers get faster.

It has only happened a hundred times ever, so how can you claim that it is a miracle that it hasn't happened more than twice during cricket matches?
