Yeah but did they put up the same level of resistance and directly threaten the arresting officers? It is a pity that those two did not get removed from the gene pool, but that's a separate question. Police are often too quick to escalate to violence, but a kid with a toy gun and Michael Brown aren't even in the same category. Also, the whole "raised his hands" thing has been put severely into question based on the forensic evidence. I'm not one to defend cops, usually, but in this instance it's hard to twist this into a case of police abuse or "racism".

I don't believe it was racism.

Trigger happy police for certain though. The punishment does not seem proportional to the crime.

I would agree in that kid's case (which I think is beyond ridiculous), but Brown did not conduct himself in a non-violent way, to begin with; he basically did everything that he ought not to have done when dealing with a police officer. And he was physically menacing, so the fact that he was unarmed doesn't count for very much, considering that he was already attacking the officer, and also that based on the forensic evidence, there is nothing to suggest he had his arms raised up in surrender.
