From HMRC figures, in 1997 the best-paid 1 per cent of workers contributed 20 per cent of all income tax.
In 2007 it was 24.4 per cent.
In 2013-14 it is estimated to be 29.8%
The bottom 50% only pay 10% of all income tax.Comment
