One thing that gets me is that he seems to be the only footballer to have actually been sent down for this crime. If you Google for footballers who have been accused of rape and then see how many have been sentenced its quite a small list, in fact here's a list of footballers who have been 'banged up' as it were: List of professional sportspeople convicted of crimes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. There do seem to be numerous cases of football players being accused and then being found innocent, i.e Robin Van Persie, Titus Bramble, etc. and you have to think who is the guilty party here?

Successful convictions in rape cases are very low about 6% . Not sure whether this is due to Rape being a name given to all sorts of situations and therefore very difficult to prove in many cases because its one person's word or perception against another's.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostOne thing that gets me is that he seems to be the only footballer to have actually been sent down for this crime. Both must be absolutely certain that consent is given and they were completely fit to give it without doubt.
That hasn't been my experience when on a one night stand, it normally means ripping clothes off and getting down to it normally fuelled by alcohol.
The story from attraction to consummation may not include dinner or a movie and could be a fairly short time frame. Though wandering in and seeing my mate naked with a girl to whipping it out isn't something that hasn't happened to me thank god that would be a lot yucky.
Combine this with the documented behavior of many young girls who seem to try to snag a sportsman as a way to fame & fortune and are willing to do anything to achieve this, it is a scary landscape out there.
The girl in this case drank a significant amount of alcohol yet she saw it as a normal amount maybe we need to breathalise everyone before getting jiggy?
I sometimes wish I had the certainty so many on this board seem to have that anyone accused or even convicted must be completely guilty.
So it could be all these footballers are really rapists or they play in places where its easy and profitable to accuse them of rape, I'm not going to judge without the full facts.Comment
