Makes no odds what the British population think, the politicians will do what they can get away with, in EU terms that means that Britain follows the "rules" even though the rest of the member states don't.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if the UK doesn't end up paying up.

I often think these EU functionaries actually long for the UK to leave the EU.

Nothing else explains their crass provocations, unless they're completely deluded or I suppose just desperate for the money.

Of course they're deluded, they have their EU Federal Empire project to protect, nothing else matters a damn to these people, it's a massive self sustaining gravy train with no actual accountability.
It's the biggest train set imaginable for Civil Servant types to play with endlessly on expense accounts, fat salaries and pensions and no oversight at a meaningful level.

This is what happen when you cook the books. All this QE and fractional reserve banking has expanded the monetary mass, therefore also GDP and debt. The establishment has created a massive speculative bubble of ever rising house prices and equities.
Now when it's time to pay up, the government blames Johnny Foreigner.

So are you saying that "johnny foreigner" is never in the wrong? and instead of arguing the point you smear anyone who contradicts you. If a criticism is made of any part of your entrenched position on the EU and you cannot argue it it is then racist or propogated by a little englander? At what point is it reasonable to criticise a foreign nation or foreigner? according to your logic anyone who does this is called a "johnny foreigner" type of bigot.

in the interests of equality what do you suppose French people are smeared as if they (perish the thought ) were to ever be critical of the British? Or is that the British have more to answer to.

You see the art of debate as being a position of entrenchment from which any missile supported by logic or argument (which in your case is hardly ever) or not is how to win over and persuade people.
