Gawd, is that ludicroys Big Society thing still going? I remember CMD's speech at the launch of the Tory election manifesto back in 2010 where he outlined his grand vision for a big society where everyone would want to get involved and there would be a huge role for the voluntary sector.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostGetting paid more money than being an MP and getting more firms lobbying you so you can get a nicer job when you get booted out by the electorate........

Thought it sounded ok at the time (that was before I thought he was an effete suit full of hot air) but I guess it was quite cynical really because all those volunteers would be doing the jobs that were put to the sword by the cuts.Comment

You can tell a trite comment when you reverse it, because I don;t know anyone who believes that:Originally posted by Flashman View Post"We believe that Britain is more than just a star on somebody else's flag" Mark Reckless
But nonetheless, it's good to see the right fall into one of its ritualistic civil wars over Europe.Britain is no more than just a star on somebody else's flagComment

Most in the UK want to be part of a common market - not the EU.
And these days our partners out East are far more important that Europe for trading. We need to tap growth markets while there is some respect for UK. India et all.Comment
