    Frickin BT!!!

BT phone line at home has gone pair shaped...in that people who I talk too on the phone say that they can hardly hear me (maybe that's a good thing)..I too have trouble hearing other people (very helpful when the Mrs is calling me from the shops).

Have tried different phones on the line, but all the same.

Unplugged SKY, PC etc etc and tried phone again, still the same.

Called BT and spoke to some ejit...who said do the above things...said I already have...their response was, if we send and engineer, we will charge you a call out fee of £64.63!!! What??? It's their phone line that I pay a very generous rental for and they want to charge mois even more?

I then said, look sonny, my phone is plugged into the box where your cable comes in from outside, so if there's a fault, it's on your line outside (or the box) somewhere and that is nothing to do with me, it's for you to sort pronto...his reply? Yes sir, we will sort it, for a call out charge of £64.63.

    Fricking cheeky little b***ard

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. It was caused by water seeping into one of their junction boxes out in the street somewhere.

They should be able to test the line from their end and determine whether the fault is on your premises or not - for free. But I'm not surprised you're getting appalling service. I really hate them.

I should say double frickin BT...as my last contract was with them at BT Tower and they mucked me about with that too (doing silly 1 month extensions all the time).

Have you ever been to the Tower? Man o man, what a dive!

I had lunch in the revolving bits at the top of the BT tower once. It was a freebie to try and tempt people to buy more BT kit. Crap food and horrible wine.

Switch to NTL. Their service is crap, but if you insist they will send jabba the hut round to fix the connection in the local phone box. He will disconnect the whole town and that way you will have a case worth listening to.

Had a similar conversation with BT about a fault on my line a few months ago, but the charge was only if the fault was on 'their' side of the master box...which it was. They had performed several tests and advised the line was clear, but in the end they came out and it a loose connection on the wire in the junction box outside.

Get them out, goddammit. What's £64 to a wealthy man like yourself...?

                    NO NO NO NO NO.

I disconnected from NTL when I moved. They still haven't collected the box and they continued to charge me after the contract was terminated.

They refunded the money when I said, "look abdul, i'm gonna come down theer and fire bomb the call centre unless you get your finger out".

Not only that they just periodically **** up to keep the users on their toes.
