Not for some cranky paranoid reason. It just seems reasonable to spend a couple of hundred quid or so on being reasonably prepared (although I fear my well renovation will cost a lot more than that!)
Also, it might not be anything as dramatic as WW3. Our eleccy supply can be somewhat erratic in the middle of Exmoor, and with zero preparation even a day or two without electricity and/or water could be very inconvenient and verging on dangerous if it continued much longer than that.
