I'd be amazed if the modern apprenticeships were anything like as rigourous as they were back then.
Was it 5 or 6 years for a brickie? I think the first year of that was just making the tea.

The retraining schemes claimed to turn out brickies in 6 weeks.

    Yeah. Right.

Work is very dull but it pays the bills. I couldn't earn the money i get performing a different role so it will have to do. Keep on smiling keep on invoicing until enough is enough

There are lots of halfwits in shops.

And if you are unlucky enough to work with clothes or soft furnishings that need folding all you spend 3 hours of your day is folding them. Then you get a f***ing customer who will start throwing the stuff you just folded around. ..

I can't imagine doing this stuff if I wasn't interested in it anyway. Doesn't that make it seem like work?

If work was interesting it would be called "Entertainment" and you'd have to pay them.

I'm sure working actors don't get bored and are happy to do it rather than bar work.

I wouldn't mind being an actor.

                  Quite fancy a period drama.

But you would spend 99% of your time "resting" and trying to make it big.

If you were lucky you would get some advert work and if you were even luckier you would get a panto/regular walk on part in EastEnders.
