After paying TAX, Medical insurance and rent she ends up with $2000 a month to do what she wants with ($3300~ a month before deductions).

            The point is the percentage

Could you imagine walking away with 70% of you wage after paying your tax/NI/mortgage here ????

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Tax is at a flat rate of 7.5%.

However she has to purchase med insurance and they have no NHS out there. So tax is about $250 and $1050 pays for her rent and her med insurance.

And how exactly US Med Insurance differ from UK National Insurance?

IMO the biggest difference in the USA in terms of taxation should be reduced amount of indirect taxes like rip-off fuel duty, VAT (which seems close or the same as sales tax) is at least 10% higher than in the USA etc.

Lets see, NIC = another form of income tax, then you have to take out private medical insurance if you dont want NHS.

US medical ins is just that...medical insurance ! dinlo !
