That I very much doubt. Even their self proclaimed leaders are Russian citizen.
I have very good contacts in the region I contracted for over 2 years in Ukraine. A lot of the so called separatists are Russians and yes there are some Russian Ukrainians involved, mostly drug addicts/drunks who have been given a AK 47 and now just loot shoot and mess around

Ukrainian and Russian are very similar, especially written - not like English and Welsh for example.
