Job fell through as Agency not on Clients PSL

Probably the hiring manager didn't have the authority, but that's hardly the agency's fault, and anyhow, it represents a big old mess that won't be solved by any piece of paper defining the relationship between the contractor's Ltd and the agency. The material prosperity of a nation is not an abiding possession; the deeds of its people are.

With a client I had the HR department were happier about adding a contractor as a preferred supplier so that I could work direct than adding another agency to their preferred supplier list.Comment

along with time limit, can one say an agency can represent him, Mr. XYZ as a director of ABC ltd company.Originally posted by Stevie Wonder BoyWhat an absurd situation and incredibly frustrating. This is one of the reasons contractors get very annoyed with pimps. I guarantee the OP was not aware that his pimp was doing a flyer.
I'm thinking in future I will as well as a time limit on the representation e-mail a sentence confirming that the pimp is on the PSL and what tier of supplier they are.
I'm sensing a "contract to represent" template might be useful for all of us.
In this case if the OP opens a new company, will he be able to work for this client ?Comment

Christ, shutting down one company and opening another is a helluva lot of work just to be able to represented by a different pimp for a new gig.Originally posted by raphal View Postalong with time limit, can one say an agency can represent him, Mr. XYZ as a director of ABC ltd company.

Ask the HR team to define "Preferred Supplier List".
Last time I checked the English dictionary, the word "preferred", did not mean "exclusive".
The agent has done nothing wrong here, and deserves to be compensated.
The HR team are getting involved in something which is nothing to do with them. You want to enter into a business to business relationship, why HR teams insist on getting involved in beyond me....I bet they don't care as much about the stationery suppliers."Being a permy is like being married, when there's no more sex on the cards....and she's got fat."

Can't argue with that

It's very simple as I'm sure you're well aware. Like any business they're entitled to choose who they do business with, if their process includes HR or even their mail room, then that's how they work.Originally posted by The Agents View View PostAsk the HR team to define "Preferred Supplier List".

The agent has done nothing deserving compensation since they haven't actually got any business done as no contract has been agreed.
Stationary suppliers don't include an on site presence which will interact with their staff and could have positive or negative effects that will require HR input, do at least try to engage your brain when posting in the professional forums.Comment

Done nothing wrong? Really? The agent had no right to source for that client (nothing signed to say he can do so) and has wasted the clients and contractors time hoping that he can shoehorn himself in, once found out he is pretending he has an actual interest and demanding compensation. He will lose, I would take the role either direct or with an agency on the PSL, the rogue pimp can do eff all about it. Oh and this has everything to do with HR since they are the gatekeepers of who does or does not do work for them.Originally posted by The Agents View View PostAsk the HR team to define "Preferred Supplier List".
